Can I install solar power myself?
The answer is no you can’t
Power companies require a licenced electrical contractor to install solar systems that are connected to the grid. Solar panels are subsidised by the federal government and to obtain the rebate a system must be installed by an accredited solar installer. It is also illegal to install LV equipment in Australia without a licence. For these reasons it is highly unlikely you would be able to install your own solar. Very small systems that don’t exceed certain voltages can be installed without a licence. Systems on caravans and RV’s for example might be ok to install without a licence but it is still advisable to have a thorough knowledge of exactly how they work and how to connect them.
